Public Art Projects

Mural Projects

A creative placemaking effort to beautify and add art to the city landscape.

The National Endowment for the Arts says “Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and streetscapes, improves local business viability and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired. “

Challenge

There are many pieces that need to fit into the creation process for a mural.  We need to find a building owner that wants a mural on their building, then we need to find an artist, approve a design, raising the funds to cover all the expenses, find volunteers to assist in prepping and promoting the project and getting city approvals.  If you can help in any way with any of the process we would greatly appreciate your personal contribution to adding some beautiful art to our city.  Here are just a couple spaces that we have identified for some mural projects...

Value

Obviously murals are better than looking at a brick wall and they make a way better photo backdrop so people can take a selfie to post on social media, but the benefits extend far beyond that. They’re tied to tourism—who among us hasn’t traveled out of our way to see a cool mural, sculpture or other unique piece of art (ahem we are famous for an Ice Castle after all)? Mural can add a sense of community pride and comfort. They boost economic growth, inspire investment in community, prompt relocation and contribute so many more benefits.

Please consider helping us to fund these creative placemaking efforts by making a tax-deductible donation today.  Your donation will turn a head and create a lasting memory for so many people.  Thank you in advance!
