Tools to help our Young Entrepreneurs!

Create an Idea

Embarking on a business venture can offer youths a remarkable opportunity to explore responsibility, diligence, and creativity. Below, discover a curated list of 100 business ideas tailored for individuals aged 10 to 17:

Develop a Plan

Often, the challenge lies in organizing your thoughts effectively. That's why we offer a template to help young entrepreneurs map out the crucial elements of their business plan. In our sessions, we provide personalized guidance, whether one-on-one or in groups, to illustrate how each section of the Business Model Canvas applies to their unique business ideas.

Build Relationships

We continue to have open meetings to foster the kids ideas into a business plan and prepare them to sell their business ideas at the YEM! events this summer.

Implement your Plan

This summer, we're organizing three markets to showcase student businesses, providing valuable hands-on sales experiences and opportunities for students to connect and collaborate with mentors.

How does it work?

To embark on your journey with the Young Entrepreneur Market (YEM!), first, let your creativity flourish! Think about what you love to do, whether it's creating handmade crafts, designing innovative gadgets, or offering unique services.

Next, brainstorm ideas that you're passionate about and that could potentially solve a problem or meet a need in your community.

Once you have your idea, it's time to dive into the entrepreneurial process. Start by researching your target market, understanding your competition, and developing a business plan. Don't worry if you're not sure where to begin—YEM! is here to guide you every step of the way.

Don't be overwhelmed - sit with your guardians and complete the interest form found below.   You will then  learn how the YEM! mentors will offer advice and support as you navigate the world of entrepreneurship. Take advantage of workshops, roundtables, and networking events offered by YEM! to hone your skills and expand your knowledge.

Finally, don't forget to have fun and embrace the journey! Entrepreneurship is all about creativity, innovation, and perseverance. With the support of YEM! and your community, you have the power to turn your dreams into reality and make a positive impact on the world around you.

"Kids will have varying levels of knowledge about entrepreneurship depending on their exposure and experiences. YEM!is here to bridge that gap."

Learn More

Here are some potential levels of knowledge:

1. Basic Understanding: Some kids may have a basic understanding of entrepreneurship, knowing that it involves starting and running a business. They might grasp the concept of creating products or offering services to make money.

2. Familiarity with Business Terms: Others might have a slightly deeper understanding and be familiar with common business terms such as profit, revenue, expenses, and customer service. They may have encountered these terms through family discussions, school lessons, or media exposure.

3. Awareness of Entrepreneurs: Some kids may be aware of famous entrepreneurs or local business owners in their community. They might admire these individuals for their success and innovation, and they may aspire to become entrepreneurs themselves one day.

4. Hands-On Experience: Kids who have had hands-on experience with entrepreneurship, such as participating in programs like YEM! or running a small business, will likely have a more comprehensive understanding. They may have practical knowledge of creating business plans, marketing products, managing finances, and dealing with challenges.

5. Advanced Knowledge: A few children might have advanced knowledge of entrepreneurship, perhaps due to family backgrounds in business, advanced coursework, or personal research. They may understand complex concepts such as market analysis, strategic planning, and scaling a business.

Regardless of their current level of knowledge, all children have the potential to learn and grow in their understanding of entrepreneurship through education, mentorship, and hands-on experience. Programs like YEM! play a crucial role in nurturing their entrepreneurial spirit and empowering them to succeed in the business world.
