Founded in 1999
The Eagle River Revitalization Program, Inc. (ERRP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to preserving the unique Northwood charm of Eagle River while fostering economic growth and community vitality. Since 1999, we’ve been proud to serve as a Nationally Accredited Main Street Program, achieving Gold Tier status annually. Guided by Main Street’s Four-Point Approach—Organization, Promotion, Design, and Economic Vitality—we work tirelessly to enhance our downtown district and support local businesses.

From offering grants to assist business owners in managing community-focused initiatives like the Eagle River Farmers Market and the Flags & Flowers Program, ERRP is dedicated to creating a vibrant and welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike. Our projects and programs rely on the involvement of passionate volunteers, the generosity of donors, and the support of our business community.

While the Business Improvement District (BID) helps fund about half of our annual budget, the rest comes from community contributions, sponsorships, and fundraising efforts. By working together, we ensure Eagle River remains a thriving destination that balances economic growth with preserving its natural beauty and small-town charm. A Main Street Success Story
In 1977 the National Trust for Historic Preservation launched a pilot program in three communities to study the reasons business districts were dying. During the three-year test period, the groundwork for the Main Street approach to revitalization was established. What became clear was the importance of a strong public-private partnership, a committed organization, a full-time executive director, a commitment to good design, quality promotional programs, and a coordinated, incremental process of revitalization. In 1980 the National Trust created the National Main Street Center (NMSC) which has been working with communities across the nation to revitalize the environment of American communities.
To date, the NMSC has assisted over 1,500 communities in 44 states.
The Wisconsin Main Street Program was established in 1987. The program offers technical assistance to designated communities in various areas including volunteer development, fundraising, marketing, building rehabilitation, market analysis, business retention, and business recruitment. Each year the Department of Commerce and the Council on Main Street select communities to participate in the Wisconsin Main Street Program. Eagle River was selected as a Main Street Community in 1999.
What is a Business Improvement District?
A Business Improvement District (BID) is a designated area where businesses pay an additional tax to fund projects and services that enhance the district, such as cleaning, security, streetscape improvements, and marketing.

Funded primarily through a tax on commercial property owners, BIDs provide supplemental services beyond those offered by local government, fostering a cleaner, safer, and more vibrant community.
