ERRP Grateful for Four Years of Leadership and Looking Ahead to New Growth

Last Updated 8/22/2025

August 20, 2025 - The Eagle River Revitalization Program (ERRP) announces that Executive Director Karen Margelofsky will be stepping down on September 30, 2025, to begin a new role with the Stevens Point Downtown and Portage County Business Park BIDs.

Karen has led ERRP since 2021, guiding the organization through a time of tremendous growth and community impact. Under her leadership, ERRP:

  • Expanded the Eagle River Farmers Market into one of the city’s most vibrant gathering places.
  • Launched the Impact Grant program, investing directly in business growth and property reinvestment.
  • Helped secure the National Historic District designation for downtown Eagle River.
  • Celebrated recognition as Wisconsin’s 2024 Main Street of the Year.

“These past four years have been some of the most meaningful of my career,” said Margelofsky. “It has been an honor to work alongside the board, our volunteers, city partners, and business owners who are so deeply committed to Eagle River’s future. While I am excited to begin a new chapter, Eagle River will always hold a special place in my heart. I look forward to continuing as a mentor and partner through our shared work as part of Wisconsin’s Main Street programs.”

ERRP Board President Danielle Mazur added:
“Karen’s vision, dedication, and energy have transformed our community. From securing major grants to building lasting partnerships, she has positioned Eagle River for long-term success. While we are sad to see her go, we are grateful for her contributions and excited to continue building on the momentum she has created.”

ERRP Vice President and City Alderman Dan Dumas shared:
“Karen has been a bridge between the business community and the City, making sure revitalization is not just about beautification but also about economic growth and opportunity. Her work will have lasting effects for years to come.”

ERRP Board Member and downtown business owner Andy Lichtfuss reflected:
“As a new business owner, I’ve seen firsthand how ERRP supports local businesses. Karen’s leadership helped create an environment where small businesses like mine can thrive. That momentum is something we are all committed to carrying forward.”

The ERRP Board has opened the search for its next Executive Director. Applications are being accepted through September 2, 2025, with interviews in mid-September. Karen will assist with cross-training to ensure a smooth transition.

Community members are encouraged to stay engaged with ERRP during this exciting next chapter. Together, we will continue to strengthen Eagle River as a place where businesses thrive and the community gathers.
