Phase 1: Installation (May 2021)
In May 2021, we completed the first phase, replacing old equipment with new features like a climbing wall, lollipop climber, croquet climber, and an inclusive storefront panel. The highlight is a tower with a winding slide, all set within a 10-inch ADA-compliant wood chip base with a tuff timber border.
Phase 2: Expansion (Fall 2022 - September 2023)
Phase 2 was funded and ordered in the fall of 2022, and installed by September 2023. This phase includes a rope climber leading to a new tower with a double race slide, another challenge climber, and an additional ground-level panel, all within another ADA-compliant wood chip fall zone.
Phase 3: All-Inclusive Features (Spring/Summer 2024)
Currently, we are raising funds for Phase 3, scheduled for installation in the spring/summer of 2024. This phase focuses on all-inclusive play features like the We-Saw See Saw with a rubberized fall zone, rubberized surfaces under Phase 1 equipment, large drums, a metallophone, and a molded bucket swing set. These additions will ensure that children of all abilities can enjoy the playground together.
Located in a central city park, this playground will be a hub for numerous community events, accessible to both tourists and locals. The park, adjacent to downtown Eagle River and near various attractions like the Children's Museum and bike/UTV/snowmobile trails, already offers amenities like pickleball courts, seasonal bathrooms, a bandstand, and a pavilion. It serves as a venue for events like Cranberry Fest, World Championship Snowmobile Derbies, and more, welcoming over 40,000 visitors annually.
In 2022, we partnered with the Lion’s Club to enhance our project by adding a poured rubber surface to the new playground equipment at Lion’s Gremban Park behind City Hall. This addition will create two inclusive, accessible playgrounds in Eagle River, significantly enhancing the community's recreational resources.
